Why the hell do so many people make the villains purposely badass when they want us to root for the "good guy?!" Seriously!!11 Edit: Not just that, but it seems like so many of the good guys today are either naive immature kids with some crazy, unrealistic dream (king of the pirates, anyone?), someone who always needs to be saved (Kairi/Namine from KH or Bella Swan, but then again, she never really did anything to be a hero...) and doesn't do anything, a person with a really sad backstory (presumably to make them more "deep" or feel sorry for them or whatever) who's always down in the dumps and has an obligatory hetero love interest (always wondered why that was so necessary), or just some other person with a really bad temper who doesn't really think things through who adamantly refuses to look before they leap and act like it's cool. I just find the antagonists, while evil and filled with selfish motives most of the time, with more overall admirable traits. (I don't mean blowing up the planet or becoming some new form of deity). They know how to plan, manipulate, assert themselves and get things organized. They usually have better weapons/skills/outfits and look damn good using them. They don't always tend to flip out as much as the hero and lose face and it's usually more difficult to tell what they're thinking (while many of the good guys just tend to wear their emotions on their face) or what their next move is going to be and they don't tend to bother with trivial things as much. Also, many of them seem to have a higher intelligence than the protagonist. Unlike many hot-headed protagonists, they actually take the time to think things through and carefully select where they'll strike next and they don't hesitate at the wrong moments. And I just find that very, very sweet. I mean, what side would you rather be on...? Edit2: Yes, I am aware that there are some cool protagonists. Some. As in, not a whole lot. Thank you. Edit3: Ho look, a sister stamp. [link] I've been uploading stamps in theme pairs so I figured why not? Template $zilla774 |
